Guidance on graphic representations of designs

IP Offices of the European Trade Mark and Design Network have now agreed on the first Common Practice of Designs with the aim of giving guidance for the examination procedures on the requirements for graphic representation of designs, including how to use the appropriate disclaimers, types of views and how to represent designs in a neutral Background. This guidance can be found in the Common Communication “Convergence on graphic representations of designs“.

The recommendations are intended to enhance the applicants’ understanding of how best to reproduce their designs and to give an overview of the Offices’ quality standards for design applications received by electronic means and by paper.
